Thank you for your continued support of RPG MAKER UNITE.
Producer Ichinose here with some new information for everyone!
We’re continuing with more information about the upcoming major update! See the previous letter for the first part of this information.
Today covers additional details about the new features.
Let's get into it!
【Major Update New Features】
1.Post Processing Effects
It will now be possible to enable certain Unity post processing effects in UNITE.
Effects can be applied to the map, battle UI, and non-battle effects only.
The effects that will be implemented at this are as follows:
- Field/Battle
- Blur
- Bloom/Glow
- Glitch
- Color Change
- Pixellate (Mosaic)
- Transitions
- Wipes
2.Enhanced Event Search
In addition to the existing Event search function in the outline editor, it will now be possible to search variables, switches, Events, and strings with the updated search function.
Results when searching for variables/switches will include both Events and various settings that use the targeted variable/switch.
It is possible to jump to the specific item from the search results.
For Event searches, it is also possible to search for usage of specific Event Commands.
【Functional Improvements】
1.Faster Install Time & Editor Optimization
The total number of installed files has been reduced by optimizing some tile data.
This has leds to both a reduction in installation time (for fresh installs) and improved performance of the UNITE editor.
We are continuing to work on further optimization improvements.
Installation (project creation) time has been reduced by almost half compared to v1.0.10.
【New Install Time】
【Create Project Time (with all sample games)】
In addition, tile data has been optimized to increase the speed of loading tiles in the UNITE editor.
2.Event commands can be collapsed in the Event Execution Details window.
Event details have been displayed with all executed Commands fully displayed.
Now Events that span multiple lines can be collapsed by pressing the new ▼ button.
3. Improvements to Route Pathing.
The functionality of the Event Command “Specify Movement Route” has been modified.
Until now, if a mistake was made when configuring the route, the process had to be redone from the beginning.
Starting with v1.1.0, it will be possible to make changes to the travel route, thus improving usability.
Specifically, the following changes are being made to the functionality:
- Right-click (not on route point): deletes last placed route point
- Ctrl-Drag: the selected route point will move to another tile.
- Right-click (on a route point): displays a sub-menu with “Delete Root Point” as an option.
- Right-click (between route points): displays a sub-menu with “Insert Route Point” as an option.
The music in the video is taken from both the default UNITE music as well as from the Free Sound Set, which is available only on the Epic Games Store.
It is free to download, so please check it out!
Thank you for taking the time to read to the end!
The major update is scheduled for release on Wednesday, July 31 at 15:00 JST! We hope you are looking forward to checking out all the changes!
